Local Martial Arts School Offers Free Lessons;
May is "Mother's Month" at Black Belt Academy
April 30, 2002 - Dover NH - Mother's Day is
lasting a whole month at a downtown Dover martial arts school.
From Monday, May 6th to Friday, May 31st, Matt Randall's Black
Belt Academy is celebrating motherhood by offering all moms
a free month of lessons. Many classes will also provide child
care for only $1.
Mothers will have an array of classes from which to choose
including traditional Tae Kwon Do, a Korean martial art that
has become the most widely practiced form in the world today.
Martial arts are known to offer a variety of benefits, consisting
of stress reduction, improved self-discipline, confidence
and self-esteem, weight loss, a sense of safety and security,
and release of anger and tension.
Instructors include Master Randall, a 5th degree black belt
who began training over 20 years ago, head instructor Ronel
Brisson, 3rd degree black belt and director of the demo team,
and Katie Tiberghein, 3rd degree black belt and enrollment
director.
"I felt the need to extend this invitation to mothers
because I know they often place themselves at the bottom of
the totem pole when it comes to fitness, health, and fun activity.
Spring is a perfect time to renew a commitment to your health
and vitality," explains Master Randall.
Liz Comeau, mom to a 13 year old blue belt student, plans
to try her hand at the classes she has only observed until
now. "My son has reaped the benefits, both physically
and mentally, for over 2 years
now it's my turn! And
with a free month, I have no more excuses," says Ms.
Comeau. She goes on, "Although I'm a little nervous,
I'm also excited. I trust and admire the instructors implicitly."
Other class choices are Fitness Kickboxing and EZDefense.
Fitness Kickboxing is a high energy class which improves cardiovascular
health and coordination and helps to drop inches and pounds.
EZDefense will offer instruction in how to handle the stress
of real life confrontation.
Morning and evening classes are offered Monday through Thursday.
"Mom-only" classes where babysitting is offered
will be held on Mon and Wed from 5:00 to 5:30PM, and Tue and
Thur from 5:30 to 6:15PM. Regular adult classes which moms
are also welcome to join will be held Mon through Thur 7:30
to 8:15PM and Tue/Thur mornings from 8:30 to 9:15AM. Babysitting
will not be offered during those times. Moms should wear loose,
comfortable clothing. They are encouraged to commit to the
whole month for maximum benefit and to get a true sense of
how ongoing training will affect their lives.
